Overview
The project focused on an e-commerce site offering specialized products that can be difficult for first-time customers to compare and select.
We reviewed both the customer-facing journey and the measurement environment so that product navigation could become clearer and future improvements could be based on reliable data.
Challenge
Product selection and performance measurement were both difficult.
The product range required a level of specialist knowledge, while the site structure relied heavily on product categories.
This made it difficult for some first-time visitors to identify the right product or understand where to begin.
The analytics and e-commerce tracking environment also required review, making it difficult to evaluate which products, search queries, and user journeys were contributing to meaningful actions.
Approach
Review the measurement environment and the search journey together.
We used Google Analytics 4, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Assistant to review search traffic, product pages, events, and e-commerce tracking.
We also reviewed product titles, metadata, categories, structured data, and navigation opportunities based on product use cases.
Rather than treating analytics, SEO, and user navigation as separate tasks, we organized them as one improvement process.
